2) Chemical name: (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) acetic acid

3) Molecular formula: C8H6O3CI2

4) Specifications:

a) Tech amine salt butyl 72 EC

b) 2,4-D content (m/m): 95% min. 860, 720g/L amine salt 72.0 butyl

c) Free phenol: 0.4% max. 1.0% max. 1.5% max.

d) Moisture: 4.0% max.

e) Free 2,4-D: 2.0% max.

5) Physical and chemical properties:

a) 2,4-D is white powder;

b) Melting point: 140.5oC; V.P. 53Pa (160oC). Solubility (25oC),
620mg/l water; soluble in aqueous alkali, alcohol, diethyl ether.
Insoluble in petroleum oil; stability, in soil DT50 <7D. It is a strong acid,
pKa2.64, and forms water-soluble salts with alkali metals or amines

6) Applications: 2,4-D, its salts and esters are systemic herbicides, widely used
for the control of broad-leaved weeds such as Plantago, Ranunculus and Veronica
spp in cereals and other crops at 0.28-2.3kg/a. After dilution, it can be used
to control the broad leaf weeds in the fields of barley, wheat, rice, corn, millet
and sorghum
